Where is your Internet Explorer history stored?

Internet Explorer stores your history in Index.dat files.

In Windows Vista and Windows 7, they are stored in two folders. If your username is jdoe they are:

• c:\users\jdoe\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\History
• c:\users\jdoe\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\History\Low

The second one is for when you are running in protected mode.

Internet Explorer stores the main index.dat file in the folder itself. In various subfolders it keeps index.dat files for various subperiods.
